Today marks the end of 30 days that Alenka and I decided to give up McDonalds! Feels pretty good to have finished that, I only cheated once, and to be honest I havent really missed it. On that note, I've tried to fix up my eating habits, slowly but surely. Starting with breakfast, I've been eating eggs every morning, usually with some spinach.. and then for dinner just trying not to eat crap...getting there :)
I've also made progress on the exercise side of things too, deciding to pick a 10km training program from the Gold Coast Marathon website to fill in the time before I can start a full marathon program, and hopefully create some more aerobic fitness.
So far this weeks program has consisted of two 40mins runs. I nearly made it 3 laps around ring road, which I'm told each lap is 2.5km..I'd guestimate I did 7km in 40mins, seeing as the app runkeeper wouldnt work for me! It feels good to be getting fit again, to feel my body functioning how I remember in high school. Having said that, I weighed myself this morn and have dropped another KG, meaning I have lost 4kg since July. I'm still a LOT heavier than I was in high school, and it doesnt bother me that I'm that heavy so long as I can get back to the fitness level I used to be.
Not to make this too long, but I've also been reading a book called "Born to Run", if you haven't heard of it, its worth checking out. I'm not sure how fictional it is but so far its pretty damn inspiring. Its about a culture Tarahumara or "Running People", who live in the most deserted parts of northwest Mexico. The author describes them as pretty much the ideal athlete. Seriously worth googling them if you dont have the book.
Thats all from me, I have an hour long run to do on sunday, will be posting again then. X
